Obama ready to eliminate Daylight Savings?

According to news reports, Barack Obama may be getting ready to jettison Daylight Savings.

Turns out, according to two academics on the NYT Op-Ed page, there is little scientific proof that this reduces energy consumption. It also turns out that this practice could be wasteful, a bit annoying, and a lot of people, including Obama, want to get rid of it.

A study in Indiana, a state that recently started DST, showed an overall increase of 1 percent in residential electricity use with occasional increases of 2 to 4 percent in late spring and early fall. So much for conserving energy.

I’m all in favor of that. I’m tired of missing TV shows because my Tivo / DVD-recorders / VCRs didn’t properly adjust to the time switch. I also hate the way it throws off my sleep patterns. I think it’s time to quit using this government-mandated standard that works against the natural rhythm of the earth’s seasons.

This is patent lunacy. Not Daylight Savings … I mean even discussing these nonsense issues when Obama fell over himself to hand over the entire economy to a few criminal bankers. I don’t expect to change your mind. You’ve already downed the Kool-Aid, but please watch a video on Google Videos called The Money Masters, or any other videos–there are several–that explain the Federal Reserve and the central banking scam we labor under. If you have the intellectual honesty to grasp and confront reality, you will understand that the puppet changes but the program remains the same. I’m sorry that you’ve invested so much into this person, but there is no real advantage to wallowing in ignorance.

Our country is headed in a bad direction, and this guy toes every fascist mark. He speaks in broad generalities that sound nice, but there is simply no substance–except the policies and philosophies he is associated with by his voting record and the groups who funded him and who are populating his staff. Those policies are: Government spying and the Big Brother state, orchestrated and deliberate economic disaster, Mid East warmongering … These are the cold hard facts. Please look past the rhetoric and educate yourself.

If the almighty one want to change it then so be it. Just kidding. He is the most intellegent man on the face of the earth. Just ask him or any of his followers. Remember though, change cane go both ways. sometimes it’s good. And other times one wishes that it never happened. I will place my money (what will be left of it after being taxed to death) that if he gets into office that in two years you won’t find a single person that admits that they voted for this phoney.

It’s funny how some folks come up with “cold hard facts” when they simply look at the things they want to look at. So much criticism of a guy who’s not even president yet! At least wait until he’s in office before making up nonsense…..

    HLM:

Awake: To cite facts is to make up nonsense??? The guy’s voting record??? Government spying??? Thoughtcrime laws??? Funding the war he’s supposedly against???? Bankers handing each other hundreds of billions while people lose their homes???? THESE ARE THINGS HE ENDORSES, WORKS FOR, W A N T S …

How about the draft and *forced* service to the government? How about those who funded him??? Most popular candidate of Wall Street bankers??? This ring any bells??? Israeli Lobby … HUGE Proponents of US takeover of the Mid East … But lemme guess, it was bad when Bush did it, but now it’s okay….

But hey, being awake is a good idea. I’m just saying, try it. Personality worship is the stuff of fascism.

Some people are just so ignorant…Obama is not even in office yet and he’s already being accused of all sorts….get a grip please!!!
As regards to someone’s prior comment about Obama being a “phoney”…well, they elected the biggest phoney ever in Bush..a man of the people…not!..honest…not!…caring for the troops…not!…caring for the veteren’s…not!
Bush is a war monger and has no thought for the troops only for himself, as he was going to Iraq come hell or high water!!
This is the worst President ever and will go down in history as such, no one is giving Obama a chance or is it because they can’t stand the thought they might be wrong about him???

It would be nice if folks would stick with the subject that they’re commenting on. Is anyone actually in favor of keeping Daylight Savings Time?

    HLM:

Note to awake: I never “claimed” cold hard facts. I offered them. Glad to know I’m debating with someone who nobody never learned to spoke English good. Did you read the information I presented? The man’s voting record, statements, financial backers and associates indicate a very similar foreign policy to Bush’s and a domestic policy that is the same in spirit, but even worse thanks to his plans to grow the power and reach of the government even more. The course is set as of his love affair with radical Zionism and his endorsement of the banker bailout. Study some economics if you can manage it… You following any of this? I disliked Bush vehemently, and dislike Obama for exactly the same reasons. If you could see past fluff and nonsense you’d feel exactly the same way.

If HLM truly believes the Obama plan is identical to the Bush plan, then I’ve got a bridge I could sell for a very good price. There will be some significant differences between the two administrations, even if HLM refuses to acknowledge certain aspects of reality.

Then again, what do you expect from someone that states “Glad to know I’m debating with someone who nobody never learned to spoke English good?”

hmmm. i guess i’ve never really given much thought to this subject. ive always taken daylight savings for granted.
i really dont think it would affect me one way or the other, other than remembering to change the clock on my stove. most other clocks seem to reset themselves these days.

Reading the majority of the responses on this page there are two things I can tell, there by unhappy Republicans that there man didn’t get elected and people that informed and educated that are not controlled by the opposition to change

Please, please, please don’t get rid of Daylight Saving Time!!!! I love my evening hikes with sunlight still on the mountain. I love being able to go for a fun until 9pm. I know it’s not all about me, but I’m sure many others would agree that that extra dose of sunlight in the evenings is really, really nice!!!!

I live in Texas. Daylight savings time is a blessing in the summer. I live near beaches and an extra hour of sunshine is delightful. Please look at individual states before doing away with our daylight.
